TRCC GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION

On 27 February 2006 the TRCC held its inaugural cocktail reception at Tawana Ramada hotel. A total of more than 100 guests attended. Among the guests were top officials of major Thai private companies, Government agencies and embassies, as well as representatives of other foreign chambers of Commerce. The guests of honour were H.E. Mr. Yevgeny V. Afanasiev - the Russian Ambassador in Thailand and Prof. Dr. Prasop Rattanakorn (center).

On January 19, 2008 the Thai-Russian Chamber of Commerce held its Third Annual General Meeting at Tawana Ramada Hotel, Bangkok.

TRCC President Mr. Chusak Direkwattanachai presented a detailed report on TRCC activities in 2007 and a plan of action for 2008. His Excellency Mr. Yevgeny V. Afanasiev, Russian Ambassador to Thailand and honorary chairman of the TRCC informed the meeting of the current state of Thai-Russian relations as well as the policies and up-coming activities of the Russian Government on promoting trade and economic cooperation with Thailand. A special guest at the meeting - Mr. Nicola Savoretti (President of “Emercom International” Association), presented an interesting overview of potential areas for Thai-Russian trade and investment opportunities.

The meeting was followed by a friendly cocktail reception with a touch of genuine Russian vodka.

On November 30, 2007 representatives from three main business institutions of Thailand, i.e. the Board of Trade (BOT), Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and the Thai Bankers Association (TBA) plus the Thai-Russian Chamber of Commerce (TRCC) met at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center to announce the establishment of the Thai-Russian Business Council (T-RBC). The new business organization was set up to act as coordinator between the Governments and the private sectors of the two countries in addressing major issues of trade and economic relations and together with its Russian partner – the Russian-Thai Business Council to promote further development of Thai-Russian trade and economic cooperation. Throughout the almost 5 years of preparatory work, since the day of signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the FTI and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Enterpreneurs (RUIE) in October 2003, the Thai-Russian Chamber of Commerce played an important role in coordinating and promoting the process of the establishment of the T-RBC.

The inaugural meeting of the Thai-Russian Business Council elected Mr. Thanit Sorat (FTI Deputy Secretary-General) as T-RBC’s first President. TRCC President Mr. Chusak Direkwattanachai and Vice-President Mr. Phisak Nivataphand were elected as Vice-Presidents of the Thai-Russian Business Council, and Mr. Vitaly Kisselev (TRCC Executive Director) – as its Deputy Secretary-General.

At a cocktail reception which followed the T-RBC inaugural meeting senior Thai Government officials and the Russian Ambassador to Thailand welcomed the newly-formed organization, which was established in the auspicious year of the 110-th anniversary of Thai-Russian diplomatic relations, and pledged their support to T-RBC’s endeavors.

6-8 June 2008 a delegation of the Thai-Russian Chamber of Commerce, led by TRCC President Mr. Chusak Direkwattanachai took part in the 12-th International Business Forum in St. Petersburg (Russia). Highlights of the Forum were a keynote speech by Russian President Mr. Dmitry Medvedev and an exhibition of nano-technologies.

7 August 2008 TRCC President Mr. Chusak Direkwattanachai and Executive Director Mr. Vitaly Kisselev were guest speakers on “Indepth view with the Thai Chamber of Commerce” TV program to speak on trade and investment opportunities between Thailand and Russia.
